Safaris in Tanzania
The safari below is our most popular itinerary and a good starting point. Should you have more time available we can also add extensions to this itinerary as mentioned below or create something different to suit your requests.
These are suggestions only, a safari can be tailor made to fit your requirements....
Itinerary example : Lake Manyara/Serengeti/Ngorongoro - 4 days/3 nights Day 1 - Lake Manyara
This morning you will depart for Lake Manyara National Park. Spend the afternoon on a game drive of this park, described as one of the hidden gems of Tanzania. This park is famous for its tree climbing lions and large herds of elephant. Overnight at Lake Manyara Day 2 - Serengeti
After breakfast drive to one of the most famous game parks in Africa, the Serengeti. Here is home to millions of wilderbeest during the migration and over the huge flat plains you are likely to find lion, cheetah, leopard, elephant, giraffe, zebra, hyena and many other small predators. All afternoon will be spent on game drive before enjoying dinner and the experience of sleeping in the middle of the Serengeti. Overnight in Seronera (the centre of the Serengeti) Day 3 - Serengeti/Ngorongoro Crater
An early morning start in the Serengeti to try and find cats before they retreat away from the blazing sun during the day. After a few hours game drive in the Serengeti drive to the Ngorongoro Crater.
Overnight camp at the rooftop of the crater, providing amazing views. Day 4 - Ngorongoro Crater
This morning you will descend into the Ngorongoro Crater - a wonderful haven for wildlife. Ngorongoro is unique in that almost all the wildlife live within the crater walls hence you have the opportunity to find game easily. Rhino, in particular, can be seen regularly as well as prides of lion and other predators like cheetah. Enjoy lunch by the hippo pond before beginning your drive back to Arusha/Moshi.

Good additional nights to add to this itinerary :
Serengeti - (1 extra night)
Spend an extra day in the Serengeti. This provides you with one full day in the Serengeti (therefore morning and afternoon game drive) and allowing you to travel deeper into the park. Depending on the time of the year this extra night can sometimes be the difference as to whether you can travel far enough to find the migration. Tarangire National Park - (1 or 2 nights)
Add another park into your itinerary. Tarangire is famous for tree climbing pythons or the rare and peculiar long necked gerenuk. With herds of up to 300 elephant, the migratory wilderbeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest and eland, Tarangire has the greatest concentration of wildlife outside the Serengeti. The best time for visiting this park is September - November. Lake Natron - (2 nights)
Travelling through the rift valley, experience amazing views of Lake Natron, famous for millions of flamingo's and amazing sunrise/sunsets. Here you can spend a full day hiking or for those a little more adventurous, attempt climbing the Oldonyo-Lengai volcano at night. This volcano is active and an amazing experience. As a part of this extension you will see the true maasai way of life and you can visit a local untouched village (small extra cost). Other options can include :
Maasai village 2 day/1 night trip : Day 1 :
This morning you will drive from Moshi or Arusha to a local remote masai village. This village is not visited by many tourists and the local village members are keen to show you their way of life. Upon arrival you will be introduced to the village. Your afternoon starts with a lesson on their traditional maasai medicine. Once the men return from their day with their cattle you have the chance to milk the cows, help collect firewood and watch the sunset.
